understood. you're right about the odd time signature bit. he's the master. you're into the 5th beat of a 7/8 coming off of a 6/4, and realize your own sense of time sucks while those three just move right along. I played guitar in a Rush cover / garage project many years ago and spent most of my time teaching our bass player how to play the 7/4 line over the Red Barchetta solo. Turned out slapping my thigh seven times while he played the part turned the trick. he had no idea. good times.

the album was not as good as albums before this though, this was the best off the album along with turn the page and mission, rest really wasn't all that great :/ overoad of the synthesizers for me

I do believe him to be a legend in prog rock and multi-percussion. He's so creative and his timing is flawless. I am also kinda perplexed at how he can seamlessly go from one odd time signature to another yet can't really swing when it comes to jazz. I would figure him to show at least some fluidity but hey, hes still a legend and a mentor to millions including myself. I just really take offense to those ( not you of course) that proclaim him to be "the best". That was my initial reply reason.
